We intend to provide you with the best possible information on azaleas and other rhododendrons. Our emphasis is on southern U.S. native species and plants that grow well in the southeastern portion because that is what we know the best.

This news blog keeps you informed on upcoming meetings, field trips, new information on our web site, and other interesting tidbits as they come to our attention.

Come back here regularly, or better still, subscribe to our news blog (click Subscribe icon below) to automatically receive our occasional news updates via email. We won't inundate you with spam.

The American Rhododendron Society has recently established an online store. Proceeds from sales generated through the store help the financial status of the ARS and help keep dues down as low as possible. Managed by Steve Henning, who run the site Henning's Rhododendron and Azalea Pages, the store offers ARS logo merchandise, Amazon merchandise, and participating merchants who give referral fees to the ARS. Anything Amazon sells or these other participating merchants sell will help the ARS and not cost you a penny more. If you are in the market for any of the items offered, go to ARSStore.org first and use the links from there.

We have added some new links on our Useful Links page. Based on a suggestion, we added links to some other plant societies - Camellias, Hostas, Hydrangeas, Iris, Roses, Native Plants, and others. Azalea and rhododendron lovers love other plants too.

From time to time we will be adding more photos and photo albums. We have added a new photo album of the Davis Garden and have added additional photos of Robin Hill Hybrids. Check them out.

We think pictures are very important. Better than words, pictures can give you much information.

sawnee-1In our newsletters, web pages, and PDF articles, we try to to illustrate with appropriate pictures. How better to explain field trips and gardens than with pictures? We find  many web sites may just have a picture or two. In such a complex group of plants as rhododendrons and particularly deciduous azalea species, one or two pictures cannot convey the variation that exists. Through our photo albums, we intend to eventually document some of the characteristics, habit, habitat, and variety of these plants. In addition to photo albums of plant species, hybrids, and clones, we will show some of the sights of our field trips, garden visits, and other events.
