Sawnee Mountain

Sawnee Mountain is a rock formation in Forsyth County a few miles northwest of Cumming, Georgia. It is now a county park with three miles of connected, easy trails up the mountain which stands almost 2,000 feet in elevation, making it the tallest hill in the metro Atlanta area. Kennesaw Mountain and Stone Mountain are both less than 1,700 feet. From the base to the top is approximately 450 feet. The vistas are fabulous and the Rhododendron minus plentiful. One will find many other native species with the rhododendrons, including fire pink, Silene virginica, Indian cucumber root, Medeola viginica, and native azaleas.
